Open DSc and Post Doctoral positions at Aalto University

The Marine Technology Group Aalto University (https://www.aalto.fi/en/department-of-mechanical-engineering/study-marine-technology-at-aalto-university) invites potential applicants to express their interest for one 4 – 5 year DSc and one 2 – 3 year Post Doctoral position in the area of probabilistic damage stability which is foreseen to be formally announced in the very near future.


DSc candidates should be recent First Class Naval Architecture university graduates. They are expected to have sound theoretical background, interest in ship damage stability, computational marine hydrodynamics and/or methods for the assessment of structural crashworthiness by Finite Element Analysis. Some industrial experience will be considered positively.

Post- Doctoral candidates are expected to have excellent theoretical and application background in probabilistic mechanics for use in ship damage stability, some knowledge on ship hydrodynamics using classic or CFD modelling methods and/or structural crashworthiness. Independent thinking will be considered an asset. Post Doctoral scholars are expected to actively contribute to the education and research programs of the group.

The selected candidates will be engaged with highly intensive industry / academia research program. They should have the will and ambition to pursue high flying academic or industrial career.
